Rod Savage joined the leadership team at Altilium in 2022 to establish and oversee the supply chain for collecting end-of-life EV batteries, production scrap and black mass, ensuring a secure supply of feedstock to the UK’s largest planned EV battery recycling facility. Rod has over 30 years’ experience in the UK and global energy markets, working across mining, waste-recycling, trading and logistics. He has set up and led international and physical commodity trading operations and built and operated mineral preparation and process plants.
Altilium’s ACT2 pilot plant opened in Plymouth earlier this year, with capacity to recover battery materials from the equivalent of one EV battery per day. The company’s planned ACT4 plant will be one of the largest EV battery recycling facilities in Europe, with capacity to process scrap from over 150,000 EVs per year, producing 30,000 MT of CAM, enough to meet around 20% of the UK’s expected needs by 2030.
