Mobile EV Charging – The future of EV charging

Presented By: Momin Tahir, CEO, Ionic Technology

Presentation Description:

Currently the UK’s EV charging infrastructure is struggling to keep pace with demand. Traditional chargers are fixed, expensive to install, and often located in inconvenient or congested areas. For many drivers – especially the 43% of UK households without driveways; home charging is not an option, and public chargers are too slow, too crowded, or too unreliable.
Ionic addresses this with the UK’s first mobile DC rapid charging service, removing the barriers of fixed infrastructure. Our mobile chargers deliver consistent Level 3 (DC fast) charging, offering up to 120kWh output and capable of adding 10–15 miles of range per minute – without relying on grid connectivity.
Ionic is the UK’s first mobile DC rapid EV charging service, offering fast, flexible, and on-demand charging delivered directly to customers – wherever they are.
Our core product is a fleet of 161kWh mobile DC charging units capable of delivering up to 120kWh output, providing a Level 3 (rapid) charge without needing to connect to the grid. EV drivers can book a charge via a mobile app, and our unit will be dispatched to their chosen location – similar to ordering food to your doorstep.
This solves key challenges in the EV sector: range anxiety, lack of charging infrastructure (especially in rural areas), long charging times, and limited home charging access. It also supports user cases like emergency charging for breakdowns and fleet operations.
Our innovation makes EV ownership viable for a much broader population, accelerating adoption and directly supporting the UK’s net-zero goals and 2035 ICE vehicle ban. By addressing key infrastructure and accessibility gaps, we help move the sector forward – making EV charging faster, fairer, and future-ready.
