Enabling Innovation through Materials Measurement

To enable innovation in the advanced materials sector requires measurement capabilities in-line, in-situ and utilising multiple data sources. But what does this mean in reality? In this session, NPL’s expert metrology teams will provide an overview of the Advanced Materials Metrology Strategy, published recently, and introduce technologies and case studies that cover the breadth of opportunities in advanced materials.

Questions for discussion:

  • Are current material characterisation methods becoming obsolete with new technological advancements? 
  • How does the integration of digital tools in testing challenge the traditional R&D processes? 
  • What are the key hurdles in adopting new characterisation techniques in rapidly evolving sectors like energy storage?
